Nollywood in Crisis: Renowned filmmaker, Piccolo Chidozie Obi, laments on the slaughter of cinematic passion and Lack of Creativity

Nollywood renowned filmmaker, Piccolo Chidozie Obi, took to his social media on a heated debate in the Nigerian film industry with a passionate outcry against the slaughter of cinematic passion and Lack of Creativity.

In a brutal assessment and criticism , Obi condemned the prioritization of profits over creative integrity, citing instances of actors taking on multiple roles in a single day and producers rushing productions.

“This is not filmmaking; it’s a business transaction,” Obi lamented. “The art of storytelling is being sacrificed for the sake of quick gains.”

He also stated ” I AM TIRED OF FILMING FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO PASSION FOR FILMMAKING. THESE ARE JUST BUSINESS MEN WHO ARE JUST INTERESTED IN USING AND EXPLOITING YOUR CREATIVITY TO MAKE MONEY.

VERY SELFISH PEOPLE WHO PRETEND THEY CARE ABOUT YOU BUT ARE JUST INTERESTED IN WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER.WHEN THEY ARE DONE EXPLOITING YOU, THEY CONDEMN YOU AT THE BACK AND MOVE TO THE NEXT PERSON”.

He concluded with this statement: WAKE UP ALL OF YOU….WE ALL ARE AT THE MERCY OF YOUTUBE, HENCE THE LANGUAGE-SHOOT AM LIKE THAT, IT IS ONLY GOING TO YOUTUBE. WHAT IF YOUTUBE CLOSES TODAY…WHAT IS THE FATE OF A COMMON FILM MAKER

MY NAME IS PICCOLO CHIDOZIE OBI
