FUNKE AKINDELE’S DECEMBER 2024 RELEASE MAY BREAK BOX OFFICE RECORDS

I just watched a video uploaded on Facebook by Collins Okoh, co writer of A Tribe Called Judah (ATCJ) and the most commercially successful Nollywood writer. In the video, the cast are passing the phone to themselves. In the video, Funke is called the box office Queen, which she is in my opinion. It then ends with a slide saying we should anticipate the cinema release on the 13th of December 2024.

If Funke’s antecedent is anything to go by, this movie is likely to be a top 10 box office movie. Over the years, Funke Akindele has shown that she is a force to be reckoned with in Nollywood. She first came into fame through the United Nation Population Fund’s  sponsored “I Need to Know” that ran from 1997 to 2002, now she is amongst the most popular faces in Nollywood and the highest grossing producer of all time.

Jenifa, as Funke is fondly called has according to a Wikipedia article has the top 3 highest grossing movies of all time in Nollywood, at a collectively at over 2.7 billion naira. She has demonstrated a knack for promoting and marketing her movies, as well as for telling stories with qualitative effects, upon the foundation of a good story.

The excitement surrounding “Everybody Loves Jenifa” is palpable, especially given Funke Akindele’s remarkable track record in Nollywood. Her ability to connect with audiences through relatable storytelling has not only made her a household name but also a significant player in the industry. Funke’s films often tackle social issues while maintaining a light-hearted tone, making them both entertaining and thought-provoking. As we anticipate this new release, it’s clear that her unique blend of humor and heart will resonate with fans, potentially setting new box office records.

Moreover, the collaborative effort behind “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” particularly with writers like Collins Okoh adds another layer of intrigue. Their previous successes demonstrate a strong synergy that can elevate storytelling in Nollywood. With a star-studded cast and a compelling narrative, the film is poised to not only entertain but also spark conversations about the themes it explores. As the release date approaches, there’s a growing sense of optimism that this film will further solidify Funke Akindele’s legacy as a transformative figure in Nigerian cinema, and like was referred to, as the Queen.

From the array of stars in the line-up, my prediction is that the movie will do at least a billion naira.

The Movie is titled “Everybody Loves Jenifa”. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
